A review of eight years of Yarra Watch monitoring data found that it could be clustered into four distinct groups of sites. Statistically speaking four sites tells us with a fair degree of certainty what is happening at the other sites. The four sites are:
- Launching Place – Represents Millgrove and Launching Place
- Healesville – Represents Healesville and Coldstream
- Warrandyte – Represents Warrandyte, Templestowe and Heidelberg
- Kew – Represents Kew, Abbotsford, South Yarra, Southgate and Docklands.
Sites in more urbanised catchments are more likely to be impacted by stormwater pollution after rain.
It is illegal to swim downstream of Gipps Street, Abbotsford. Kew at the Chandler Highway represents the urban site where it is legal to swim.
