The Report Card provides a snapshot of water quality in Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, the Gippsland Lakes and the waterways in their catchments.

The annual Report Card has been available on the Yarra & Bay website since 2013. Report Card 2018–19  (publication 1857) is a standalone report.

Water quality in 2018–19

During 2018–19 water quality in Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, the Gippsland Lakes and the waterways in their catchments was similar to previous years, or in some cases, slightly better.

Water quality was generally good in rivers and streams in forested areas of the upper catchment. It declined as waterways moved through rural, agricultural and urban areas.

In the bays and lakes, water quality was mostly good in areas that can mix with the open ocean. It was worse where rivers transport pollutants from urban and industrial areas.
