Have your say on Middle Brighton Pier
Parks Victoria has invited public feedback on a draft concept plan to upgrade a section of Middle Brighton Pier.
The authority’s regular monitoring identified the middle section, built in 1938, will require replacement within the next few years.
District Manager Graeme Davis said Parks Victoria were keen for community input on the upgrade, which will take place in stages.
“[Local groups] have provided some preliminary input into issues and opportunities and we want to make sure the concept plan represents the views of the wider community,” he said.
“The 1938 section is coming towards the end of its practical life span and needs to be replaced to ensure the pier continues to service the community for future generations.”
The replacement of the deteriorated area will improve access to the outer section of the breakwater for both pedestrians and ongoing maintenance.
Kellogg Root and Brown Pty Ltd have been engaged to undertake the design work.
The opportunity to provide feedback is open until 21 April. To have your say, or for more information visit http://lets-talk.parks.vic.gov.au/survey/survey_tools/middle-brighton-pier, call 13 1963 or email MiddleBrightonPier@parks.vic.gov.au.
