Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) and Kidsafe Victoria have teamed up to encourage parents to check the water quality forecast before taking children swimming in Port Phillip Bay or the Yarra River this summer.
Melbourne Water has commenced an environmental water release to the Yarra River.
Many beaches in the bay are still rated as poor today (8 December 2017) due to continued rainfall causing runoff from stormwater outlets. The affected beaches are marked as red on the Beach Report map.
