Alert removals for Canadian Bay and Gardiners Creek

Alerts issued for Canadian Bay and Gardiners Creek Ashburton have been removed.

The surface scum and discoloured water coming from a drain near Canadian Bay has dispersed. Testing revealed that the substance was not an algal bloom but was likely organic in nature.

We've received no further reports of discoloured water in Gardiners Creek, Ashburton. However, please note that the sewage alert also issued for Gardiners Creek is still active as we await testing results.
